Meet the Pastor
Reverend Anderson O. Foreman, Jr. has faithfully served as the Pastor of New Galilee Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia since December 1985. He became pastor-elect in September 1985 and was installed later that year. Many ministries have been created under Reverend Foreman’s leadership as well as the building of two places of worship.
Through Pastor Foreman’s leadership, the church has become a tithing church of believers and a light in the community. Reverend Foreman’s vision for a New Galilee simply states “Service Above Self” based on Mark 10:35-45. He sees New Galilee as a family church where all are welcome to come to be mended, and in turn, reach back to help others who may need the same. As a result of the vision and where the Lord is leading the church, New Galilee Baptist Church is now known as New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.
Reverend Anderson O. Foreman, Jr., a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, is the son of the late Anderson Foreman, Sr. and Mrs. Eileen Foreman. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age while attending his home church, New Oak Grove. As a member of New Oak Grove Baptist Church, he received his calling and later preached his initial sermon.
Pastor Foreman received his early education from Princess Anne County Training and Virginia Beach City Public Schools, both in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He continued his education at Roanoke Collegiate Institute in Elizabeth City, North Carolina; Evans-Smith School of Theology, a branch of Virginia Union University; Tidewater Community College; and Saint Leo College, majoring in Business Administration and Theology. He retired from the city of Virginia Beach as Superintendent of The Waste Collection Department.
Reverend Dr. Foreman is married to the love of his life, First Lady Lillie Gregory Foreman, and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Inger Foreman and Nicole Collins (Mark). He has one granddaughter, Kyle, whom he affectionately calls, “My Buddy.”
After 28 years as Pastor of New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, he continues to preach and proclaim the “Good News of the atoning and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
